Description
What Stigma is an interactive lesson for middle grade students. Students complete a “write around the room” activity to determine what they already know about mental illness. With guidance, students differentiate between adolescent stress and mental illness, as well as identifying common causes and symptoms. Students learn about the impact of stigma on help-seeking behavior and what they can do to help themselves or a loved one who is struggling. Additionally, students identify available national and local mental health resources.
